The team at Impact Hub Bradford have long been fans of Omar Salha’s Ramadan Tent Project and the wonderful Open Iftar events which have followed. The project has brought communities together to share food at the breaking of the fast during Ramadan for many years, including icon venues such as Wembley Arena, Trafalgar Square and British Library.

Indeed our CEO, Kamran Rashid has lead Bradford’s local Open Iftar events in recent years and we were proud to have featured Omar as our opening speaker at TEDxBradford in 2019; a great story of inclusivity and cohesion across communities.

This year, with much of the UK still under lockdown conditions, Ramadan Tent Project has produced a My Open Iftar pack, to allow Muslims and non-Muslims alike, to celebrate and share in the joys and festivities of Ramadan. The packs are a curated “goodie bag” of gifts to be shared with family members or friends, they include items from the V&A Museum amongst others.

The Ramadan Tent Project has kindly donated 300 My Open Iftar packs for Impact Hub Bradford to gift within the city. In the absence of the annual Open Iftar gathering in City Park due to the lockdown, we wanted to ensure that the genorosity and spirit of this gathering could continue.

We would love to gift these packs as boxes of thirty to schools, groups, community centres and any other groups and organisations around Bradford, all we ask is you take a photo of your pack and share it online, tagged as #openiftar

We see these packs as gifts and conversation starters, creating space for difficult conversations across our city’s diverse communities and deepening the solidarity and cohesion between Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
